The Journal of Human Performance in Extreme Environments
The Journal of Human Performance in Extreme Environments (ISSN 1529-5168) is the peer-reviewed, international scientific publication of the Society for Human Performance in Extreme Environments.
Scope
The Journal publishes both empirical research and operational findings devoted specifically to the study of human performance and behavior in high-stress environments. It is multidisciplinary in scope, and combines findings from the fields of psychology, human factors, performance, sociology, anthropology, architecture, engineering, and medicine.
Purpose
The Journal is dedicated to presenting information, data, and concepts that assist those who support the performance of personnel in spaceflight, aviation, polar, undersea, military, battlefield and command, remote-earth, firefighting, special forces, police, and emergency medical operations, among others. Although these environments and domains are diverse with respect to their environmental attributes, the psychological and performance effects of operating within them are often similar.
The primary goal of the Journal is to consolidate research from these domains in an effort to identify and illustrate common factors that characterize and predict human performance across these domains.
Publication Information
The Journal is generally published twice a year, however for some years a single, larger issue is published.
